Dark of the Moon - Shia Flies?

According to dailymail.com, Shia Labeouf and co-star Patrick Dempsey were filming scenes in Los Angeles yesterday. Shia was strapped into a harness before being lifted into the air to shoot scenes in front of an enormous blue screen. The article also mentions that John Malkovitch's character has a lot of interaction with Shia's character (according to Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the producer).

Dark of the Moon - Entertainment Tonight Featurette

Last night, October 28, 2010, Entertainment Tonight aired an exclusive segment promoting 'Dark of the Moon.' The featurette was filmed at the Chicago set and includes interviews with Shia Labeouf (Sam Witwicky), director Michael Bay, Rosie Huntington-Whitely (Carly), and Josh Duhamel (Lennox). Overall, it's a great and enjoyable segment. Below is a link as well as some of the highlights.

"I think what we were lacking in the second movie was heart," says Shia about the last installment of the blockbuster franchise, 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.' "But, I think with the addition of Rosie and new characters … you still have the magic of the first film, but you have depth in the ending of the third."

Shia Labeouf with ET's Mark Steines
"Sam's coming out of heartbreak," explains Shia about the film's emotional center. "He's looking for a rock. He's looking for stability. He's looking for a person who doesn't love him because of his involvement in the wars, or because of his involvement with the robots. … And, so he's looking to define himself and find a person who understands the definition and loves him for him, and he finds it in Rosie."

"The story, I think, is really rich," says Michael. "This is kind of a good old fashioned, kinda espionage 'Transformers' movie." He adds, "I just told Mayor Daley that I'm sorry about messing up his city."

Dark of the Moon Teaser Poster?

Tformers.com has found a possible teaser poster for DOTM. Someone by the name of "Bru No" sent the picture in. It looks like the photo was taken at a conference, as it is displayed on an easel. Shockwave's menacing face with his ominous eye over the moon is quite a sight. The 'Be Afraid of the Dark' caption is cliche, though it does tie in with the movies space race element. Time will tell to see if this is legit, a hoax, or just an early design.

'Dark of the Moon' - Real and Post-Converted 3D

Director of photography on the LA unit of "Avatar,'' Vince Pace, told Cinematical that TF3 is being shot and post converted in 3D.

"We're doing Transformers with Michael Bay, and that's a big challenge because he's not the kind of director that's going to give you a break," Pace told reporters Tuesday. "But he met it halfway and he said, look, it complements my product, and I want to incorporate this into my shooting style."

Pace discussed the new 'Avatar' 3-Disc Special Edition Blu-ray at the LA press day. He confirmed that both processes were being used on the 'Transformers' sequel, and observed that filmmakers can make good use of either of them as long as the circumstances are right. "They're doing both," he revealed. "[But] once we win that – once they know you're putting a better product on the screen, then you're working as a team. I think the dimensionalization quotient, if you will, can work if you have enough time, if you have the right talent behind it, and some money to back it, you're in a good place to work in it. Because it's part art, part time, and it's part technology."

Bonaventura reveals more comedy in Dark of the Moon

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer for Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon  recently spoke about the movie's 3D aspect and the introduction of more comedy.

"What you can expect is more comedy than we've ever had before." He also filled us in on the character development: "You can expect bigger action sequences than we've ever had before and you can expect a different character through-line for our lead because he's a little bit older and Rosie's a little bit older - there's a maturity there that didn't exist before. He's moved on to a new stage in his life with a job, and that's an interesting rite of passage, so I think it has the emotional elements that people are expecting of the movie, but they've moved forward in time, if you would."
